A Letter From the Superintendent - Fall '24

"Each of these stories reflects the spirit of Jasper County—a place where community, growth, and dedication thrive."
Welcome to the Fall 2024 Issue of Fly Together
It is my pleasure to introduce the Fall, 2024 edition of Fly Together, where we celebrate the people and programs that breathe life into Jasper County Schools. This issue is filled with stories that capture the unique spirit, dedication, and heart of our educators, students, and staff, each committed to making a difference in their own way.
In this edition, you’ll meet teachers like Sidney Mayberry and Chelsea Cox, who bring fresh perspectives to our younger classrooms. You’ll also read about educators like Courtney Klier who have chosen to return to Jasper County to give back to the community that shaped them. Similarly, Josie Meinhart, a new physical education teacher, carries forward a family legacy, inspired by her grandmother and mother, as she motivates students to embrace lifelong health and fitness.
The dedication extends to preparing students for their futures beyond the classroom at the high school. Nicole Brown in Family and Consumer Sciences doesn’t just teach culinary skills; she equips her students with essential life skills like budgeting, managing credit, and planning for college. And Travis Tarr, through the FFA program, guides students in agricultural education, helping them gain hands-on experience in our new greenhouse while developing business skills that are crucial for their future success.
This issue also shines a light on individuals like Officer Adam Deckard, whose role as our School Resource Officer goes beyond safety to foster trust and positive relationships with students. And we see leadership in our students too, through stories like Caydon Goode, whose humble approach to leading the student council reminds us of the powerful impact that grounded, community-focused leadership can have.
Each of these stories reflects the spirit of Jasper County—a place where community, growth, and dedication thrive. As you read, I hope you feel the same pride I do in the people who make Jasper County Schools a source of strength and inspiration for us all.
Thank you for your support and for being a part of our shared journey.
Warm regards,
Joe Sornberger
